| I received the Six Zero Quartz paddle as an early release, and I’ve been playing with it for a few days now, sharing it with the community for feedback. Here are our thoughts so far. I highly recommend the QUATRZ paddle to players looking for better control in drops and dinks, and a larger sweet spot to avoid mishits on the edges without breaking the bank. If you’ve just started playing pickleball or have been playing for a few months, don’t buy combo sets from Amazon or Target. Instead, get the QUATRZ, as this group usually doesn’t want to spend $200+ at the start. I also got positive feedback from advanced players who seem very happy with the performance of this paddle. First Look
First impressions of the paddle are amazing. It comes in a variety of attractive colors such as Citrine (yellow), Crystal (white), Prasiolite (green), Amethyst (purple), Rose (pink), and Smoky (gray). It feels comfortable and lightweight in hand.
If you use a two-handed backhand, this paddle might not be ideal due to its 5″ handle length.
Square Shape: The unique square face shape provides a larger sweet spot, giving players more control over the ball.
Performance
Power 7/10
Due to its low swing weight, this paddle doesn’t generate much power and is best described as an all-court control paddle rather than a power paddle. The carbon fiber construction does provide enough power to hit decent drives from the baseline, thanks to a larger sweet spot. However, the paddle face overall lacks a trampoline effect.
Spin 8/10
I have played with several carbon fiber paddles in the past which come at higher pro-level prices. The Quartz paddle isn’t lacking in spin by comparison.
Control 8/10
The Triple Black Diamond is an all-court control paddle that offers impressive control. It excels with soft shots, allowing for precise cross-court dinks and reducing the risk of hitting the ball too high. It’s also effective for mid-court resets, drops, and dinks. Additionally, it has a larger sweet spot, making it more forgiving.
Warranty
Personally, I did not like the warranty program from Six Zero compared to other competitor brands like Selkirk and Engage. You can return Six Zero paddles within 30 days of the original purchase date for a refund, but this excludes shipping costs. Additionally, after 7 days, they might charge a 10% restocking fee. The paddles comes with a six-month limited warranty covering manufacturer defects. For issues like core material defects, deformation, and delamination, there’s a separate 120-day warranty.
Overall
This Six Zero Quartz offers more performance than you would expect for a paddle well under $90, and I probably wouldn’t worry too much about durability because it does have a single one-piece unibody construction.
