Voyager Graphite Pickleball Paddle by Onix Sports | Review 2018

Onix Voyager paddle reviewPaddle Reviews | Onix |  Voyager Graphite

The Onix Voyager Graphite Pickleball Paddle weighs in at almost eight and a half ounces, making it a power hitters dream. The  flared wood handle mimics a tennis racket and finished in perforated cushioned grip which will appeal to cross over players coming from tennis. The medium grip size will also fit the average players hand well.

The unique graphics on the paddle face feature a space-themed design showing the night sky and the milky way.  Although several of the Onix paddles have an edgeless design (Like the Inferno and the Sub-Zero), the Voyager (and it’s older brother the Voyager Pro) do have a plastic guard protecting the paddle edge.  The paddle comes in two color options: blue and purple.

This is a lesser known paddle which we don’t see as often on the courts as Onix’s other paddle but still an option worth looking at, especially for players looking for a 8+ oz paddle from a well-known paddle manufacturer.

Pros:

  • Heavy hitting weight class
  • Tennis style handle and grip
  • Quality graphite finished paddle face

Cons

  • At over 8 ounces, this paddle may be too heavy for players looking for more of a “touch paddle” or anyone suffering from tennis elbow.
  • If you’re looking to put wicked spin on your serve, the glossy graphite is probably not for you, look here for best pickleball paddles for spin.

Is this paddle for you?

Good power hitting paddle for aggressive player looking for hard smashing hits and deep baseline shots. “Bangers” will appreciate this paddle

If you are a finesse player who dominates at the net and specializes in a delicate dinking game and is looking for a very lightweight paddle, then this is probably not the best paddle for you. If this is your playing style than you may want to check out these pickleball paddles for control.

Comparable paddles worth considering:

If you like Onix and are trying to decide, you may want to check out our full review of the Z5 Graphite Paddle.

It’s a similar shape, build but is about half an ounce lighter if you are looking for a good mid-weight paddle with similar shape and feel. The Z5 retails for slightly less than the Voyager.
