Rally Meister Wooden Paddle Review

The Rally Meister Wood Pickleball Paddle is one of the best-selling wood paddles out there. It is lighter than some other wood paddles. Rally guarantees that no Rally Meister will exceed 10.6 ounces.
For an affordable wood paddle, it exceeds other cheap beginner pickleball paddles in one feature: the grip.
Unlike some poorly constructed wood paddles where the grip is basically cheap tape wrapped directly over a wood handle, the Rally Meister sets itself apart with a high-end cushioned polyurethane grip.
The grip is similar to what you would find on a more expensive composite paddle. The slightly elevated ribbing adds more feel and the cushion.
If you are in the market for a wood pickleball paddle, especially if you are buying several paddles (for summer camp, YMCA or community center) you don’t need to look any further than the Rally Meister. The Rally Meister is also available in bundles (balls and paddles sold together), which is a more affordable option for couples looking to start playing pickleball, families, or large groups that need more than one paddle.
Pros
- Quality Grip
- Affordable, especially for schools and camps.
- A reliable company is well known in the pickleball industry.
Cons
- Heavy paddle topping out at 10.6 ounces.
Rally Tyro Composite Paddle Review

The Rally Tryo composite paddle delivers quality design at a much lower price point than you would expect for similar beginner paddles.
Unless you are on a tight budget (schools, camps), we would recommend skipping the wooden “Meister” and upgrading to this paddle. This is especially for anyone playing pickleball with tennis elbow or other elbow pain where the extra weight of wood would be problematic.
The Rally Tyro is a nice jump in quality from the previous paddle we reviewed and uses materials similar to more premium composite paddles. We were impressed with this paddle enough to include it in our shortlist of best beginner pickleball paddles.
The biggest selling point on the Tyro paddle is the weight: it weighs in at under 7 ounces (6.7 ounces), making it a great lightweight beginner option!
The paddle features a composite polymer core and a polycarbonate face. The minimalist design (white face with black grip) appeals to players looking to avoid the more flashy designs (or people like me that just want to play the game and don’t care about designs, colors or brand logos!).
One crucial factor to consider is that due to slight texture variation on the paddle face, the Rally Tyro has NOT been USAPA approved for tournament play. If you are looking for an approved paddle, keep reading below to check out the Rally Power 2.0
The Tyro is manufactured in the USA by Pickleball Central.
Pros
- Lightweight
- Strong Polymer core
- Made in the USA.
Cons
- Not approved for USAPA tournament play.
- One design and plain white – if color is something that you care about in a paddle.
Rally Graphite Power 2.0

The Rally Graphite Power 2.0 is currently one of the top-selling graphite paddles on the pickleball market. It’s affordable price, and overall quality landed it on our list of best graphite pickleball paddles and was a top pick for best paddle for power.
The updated 2.0 version features a thicker. 50″ Polymer PowerCore and a few extra ounces compared to the previous version of the Rally Power paddle, delivering extra punch on deep shots and smashes.
The wide face and total paddle length of 15 ¾ inches give you a large hitting surface and sweet spot. If you are upgrading from wood or basic composite paddle, the Power 2 will help add control and power to your game, especially for dink shots and rallies at the kitchen (toes to the line every time!!) where many points are either won or lost.
Rally’s unique Corner Shield Edge flares out slightly at the top edges of the paddle, adding extra edge protection without interfering with your game and adding lifespan to the paddle.
The four ¼ medium grip will appeal to most players, and the combination of its one-piece grip guard, interlocking neck and flared end of the handle all come together to deliver a solid feeling paddle. The small grip will fit almost any hand size.
The Rally paddle weights an average of 7 ounces, it’s very light and works well for both beginner, intermediate and advanced players. Paddles in this weight range offer excellent control and touch with still enough POWER, as the name suggests.
The paddle is available in red, green, yellow, and blue. It’s made in the USA by Pickleball Central.

Pros
Cons
- Edge guard is strong and durable but maybe too prominent for some players.
Rally paddles are also sold as bundled paddle sets, including paddles and pickleballs. The sets come in configurations: 2 rally paddles with four balls or four rally paddles with six pickleballs. This is a great option for couples, families, friends, or groups and camps looking for more than one paddle.
The bundles do save you money and are a good option for beginners as you get the balls and paddles and are set to start playing pickleball right away!
In one of our recent articles, I explain why I do NOT recommend buying pickleball equipment sets (including a net and other accessories, but why I DO recommend bundles (just paddles and balls without the net) and recommend these Rally paddle bundles there as a top pick.
The Rally Tyro 2, Tyro 2 Pro, and Rally Meister are offered as paddle bundles and are good options for beginners looking to save some money when buying balls and paddles together.
